Sir Richard Meets His Match is a story of determination, resilience, and fear. Orphan Jane Smith is turned out of the only home she has ever known when the new owner takes over ownership. She steals the pony, Dusty, now considered property of the new owner, and flees toward London. A wrong turn lands her in a frosty stream in the midst of a winter snowstorm. A passing knight, Sir Richard, tries to rescue her. They are found, alone, stranded in an isolated cabin. He does the right thing in proposing marriage. The assumption is that she will end the sham engagement. Will she? Does he really want her to? In the meantime, the men who are searching for her, catch up to her, and she flees again, only to be found by them on the road. Will she face the hangman’s noose or will she and her knight find happiness ever after?
